Tourism North was pleased to partner with the Thompson Golf Club and the Halcrow Lake Golf & Country Club (The Pas) during the 2012 golf season to coordinate a unique pilot project titled the Northern Manitoba Golf Adventure Passport contest. The contest took place over the months of August and September and partnered the two communities in an effort to promote tourism with northern Manitoba by northern Manitobans.
The project included a golf passport combined with a grand prize contest. In order to qualify for the contest, participants needed to purchase a passport, golf at both clubs to get their passport stamped and finally return the passport to be entered into the draw.
Tourism North is now pleased to announce the first place winner is Doug Lauvstad from The Pas. Doug chose Prize Package #1 which included two return airfare tickets, courtesy of Calm Air and a gift basket. The second place winner is Kelly Bindle from Thompson, Kelly chose Prize Package #2 which included a guided snowmobile trip for two, courtesy of Nickel City Motors and a $250 shopping spree from the Thompson Golf Club. Congratulations Doug & Kelly!
Tourism North has compiled a final report for the golf contest that outlines concept, process, costs, benefits and challenges and is currently reviewing the project should it be carried into a second year in the 2013 golf season.
